An outfit for under £30

I don’t only love this outfit because it cost less than £30 head to toe, I doubly love it because the skirt I am wearing was the first product I worked on the design of which landed in Primark stores across the country! Pretty cool eh?

I have recently left my job as a designer at Primark, but it is moments like these that make commuting for 3 hours a day, paying extortionate rent in London and being super tired constantly, all worth while! I feel I have made a small mark on the British high street by working on a product that not only I, but other women will love and enjoy wearing. Obviously, it wasn’t completely down to me, there is a team of people responsible for getting a garment booked and into store… Sarah over at A Fashion Feast is one of the lovely ladies behind this. Go check her blog out, serious girl crush!

Plus, it is only £12!! Girls, what are you waiting for… go buy this skirt!!
My top is also from Primark costing just £3.
A £3 top, £12 skirt and £15 sandals = one very happy Rosie

A fabulous weekend in London

This weekend we travelled to London to celebrate Ben’s birthday and what better place to stay than Charlotte Street Hotel. This beautiful hotel is located in the heart of Fitzrovia, just a short distance from Oxford Street and Soho, which was perfect for all the goings-on we had planned.
We arrived around lunch-time and checked into our room before dashing out to do some shopping.

The bed was probably the comfiest hotel beds I have ever slept on (I don't think any bed is comfier than your own!). 11am checkout was just too early for us, we could have slept in all day!
Personal messages are always a nice touch, thanks Fanny.
Our afternoon shopping turned out to be quite stressful. What started off as a leisurely mooch around the shops, ended up with us doing laps of the Oxford Circus / Regents Street / Carnaby Street area,  dashing in and out of the same shops trying to find an outfit for the evening.  Much to our annoyance, we both ended up buying from the first shop we went it… Why does that always happen?

We finally arrived back at the hotel, got ourselves spruced up and ready to go out and enjoy our evening.
Ben had made a reservation at the well known Michelin starred Chinese restaurant Hakkasan. This is definitely a must must must try when you are in London. We have wanted to go for so long but have only just got around to going this weekend after living in London for 3 years!
You enter the restaurant on street level, before making your way underground and into the atmospheric restaurant.

The host will take you to the bar area to grab a drink whilst you wait to be shown to your table.
I opted for a pink mojito (of course). Mojitos are probably my favourite cocktail, it was pink, (girly alert), which is my favourite colour, so it was a no brainer. Ben had a Chinese Mule, which was a n interesting twist on a Moscow Mule. It makes a change for Ben to order a cocktail which isn't served in a martini glass!
The fruits of my shopping trip... My dress is from Topshop which is available here

The food was incredible. To start we shared the crispy duck roll and jasmine tea smoked pork ribs. The ribs were our favourite as they literally fell off the bone. I'm drooling just thinking about them.
For our main course we shared chicken satay, vegetarian vermicelli and ribeye beef in black pepper and merlot sauce.  The food arrives at different times as and when it is ready and is designed for sharing, so make sure you order meals you are both going to enjoy.
We finished off the meal with a pudding to share which was a chocolate praline bombe coated in rice crispies.  If you fancy going, you can view the menu online here
Once we had finished our meal, we headed off to Soho house to go to the wrap party for the BBC Three show, Cuckoo, which Ben has been working on for the last few months.
The roof deck of Soho house was hired out for cast and crew to celebrate. Ben managed to add a plus one to the guest list which meant I was able to mingle with A-list celebrities.... just my usual Saturday night.....
We finally headed home in the early hours of the morning on a rickshaw. Again.... my usual Saturday night transport.
I don't know what I was more excited about, meeting Taylor or going home on a rickshaw??

I've been baking / Banoffee pie recipe

So who wants a slice?? I know I do!
I absolutely love baking and if I could just stay home and bake all day I would be in my element. Sadly, that’s not the case, not yet anyway… (hurry up retirement)!

A few weeks ago the boyfriend and I were invited round to some of our friend’s house for dinner, so being the excellent guest that I am, I rustled up this bad boy to take with me. It is so easy to make absolutely anybody could do it. It gets better (for you novices anyway)…. It requires no baking!!

All you need is:
250g Digestive Biscuits
100g Unsalted butter
1 tin Carnation Caramel
3/4 Bananas
300ml Double Cream
1 Flake to decorate
You may also need x1 apron from 'The Messy Baker'.  I bought my apron at The Cake and Bake show in Manchester a few years ago (which by the way was fabulous),  but they also have a website which you can buy them from.... http://messybaker.co.uk/

Start by emptying the biscuits into a bowl and bashing them with the end of a rolling pin OR, popping them into a sandwich bag and giving them a good ole whack until they resemble bread crumbs.
Melt the butter in a sauce pan or microwave...
Pour the melted butter into the crushed biscuits and start making that buttery biscuit base.
base base base base..... buttery biscuit base...
Empty the buttery biscuit mixture into a baking tin with a spring bottom base. (Don't forget that part otherwise you won't be able to get it out again), and then press down into the sides until it is all smooth.
Pop it in the fridge to set for around 10-15 minutes...
Now, this is the yummy part. Empty 1 whole can of carnation caramel onto the biscuit layer and spread evenly with the back of the spoon.
Make sure to lick the spoon once you are finished using it. As the saying goes...waste not, want not.
Slice your bananas and layer on top of the caramel.
Whip up the cream and put that on top of the bananas. This is not one to make for those of you who are on a diet!

Once you are finished assembling the pie, put it in the fridge to set for around 30-40 minutes.
Remove the outside of the tin and admire those layers....
Sprinkle with a flake...
And take round to a friend's house for pudding....Or just eat it all yourself!

 You're welcome.
