I've been baking / Banoffee pie recipe

So who wants a slice?? I know I do!
I absolutely love baking and if I could just stay home and bake all day I would be in my element. Sadly, that’s not the case, not yet anyway… (hurry up retirement)!

A few weeks ago the boyfriend and I were invited round to some of our friend’s house for dinner, so being the excellent guest that I am, I rustled up this bad boy to take with me. It is so easy to make absolutely anybody could do it. It gets better (for you novices anyway)…. It requires no baking!!

All you need is:
250g Digestive Biscuits
100g Unsalted butter
1 tin Carnation Caramel
3/4 Bananas
300ml Double Cream
1 Flake to decorate
You may also need x1 apron from 'The Messy Baker'.  I bought my apron at The Cake and Bake show in Manchester a few years ago (which by the way was fabulous),  but they also have a website which you can buy them from.... http://messybaker.co.uk/

Start by emptying the biscuits into a bowl and bashing them with the end of a rolling pin OR, popping them into a sandwich bag and giving them a good ole whack until they resemble bread crumbs.
Melt the butter in a sauce pan or microwave...
Pour the melted butter into the crushed biscuits and start making that buttery biscuit base.
base base base base..... buttery biscuit base...
Empty the buttery biscuit mixture into a baking tin with a spring bottom base. (Don't forget that part otherwise you won't be able to get it out again), and then press down into the sides until it is all smooth.
Pop it in the fridge to set for around 10-15 minutes...
Now, this is the yummy part. Empty 1 whole can of carnation caramel onto the biscuit layer and spread evenly with the back of the spoon.
Make sure to lick the spoon once you are finished using it. As the saying goes...waste not, want not.
Slice your bananas and layer on top of the caramel.
Whip up the cream and put that on top of the bananas. This is not one to make for those of you who are on a diet!

Once you are finished assembling the pie, put it in the fridge to set for around 30-40 minutes.
Remove the outside of the tin and admire those layers....
Sprinkle with a flake...
And take round to a friend's house for pudding....Or just eat it all yourself!

 You're welcome.
